Practical Information

Qualifications & Insurance Options

Qualifications & Authorization

I am licensed as a psychological psychotherapist in Germany (Approbation) and as an authorized psychologist in Denmark (autoriseret psykolog).
These are formal national licenses that meet strict professional standards for evidence-based psychotherapy.

Insurance & Reimbursement in Denmark

Psychotherapy with an authorized psychologist in Denmark can often be partially reimbursed, depending on your insurance.

You may be eligible for support via:

  • Sygeforsikringen “Danmark” (if you're a member)
→ Approx. DKK 300 per session

  • Private Danish health insurance

  • Employer-based health plans (e.g., EAP)

Sessions are usually paid upfront, and you then submit the invoice for reimbursement.
Most Danish insurers accept invoices from authorized psychologists.

🌍 For Clients with International or Non-Danish Insurance

If you're covered by a global or international health insurance plan, therapy sessions may also be reimbursed, even if you're from outside the EU.

This includes expats insured through:

  • Cigna Global / Cigna International

  • Bupa Global

  • Allianz Worldwide Care

  • GeoBlue (USA)

  • April International

  • UnitedHealthcare Global

  • Employer-based or university insurance plans

  • Private policies from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, etc.

Many of these insurers accept invoices from licensed mental health professionals in the EU, especially if therapy is part of your policy’s mental health coverage.

How it works
  1. You pay for the session upfront

  2. I provide a detailed invoice in English

  3. You submit it to your insurer for reimbursement

Upon request, I can include:
  • My license numbers (Germany + Denmark)

  • A short treatment description

  • Diagnostic codes (e.g., ICD‑11)

  • Session dates and costs in DKK or EUR

Need help checking your coverage?

Let me know your insurance provider before we begin, and I can help you clarify what costs are likely to be covered.

If your insurance does not cover therapy, you're still welcome to book sessions as a private self-paying client.
